It is only after you have been at sea in your boat, but a diving mask on and have had a look under the surface that you will get an idea of the sea and the life in it.

The sea floor surrounding our islands does not differ greatly from the shore. Its appearance can be apprehended by the form of the shore. We often find underwater caves, crevices, abysses, plateaus and underwater reefs in this coastal area.

As we move further off from the coast we come across more and more sandy or diluted muddy bottom

The characteristics and form of the sea floor are among the main factors that determine the species of organisms that live on it and around it. Another important factore are the sea currents: firstly, the surface dynamics of the sea caused by the winds, and secondly, the constant sea currents and the currents in gorges caused by tides. At such locations we find arichness of plant and animal life.
